SHAPE Vermont Conference 2026 at Killington Grand: What to Know and Where to Work

The Society of Health and Physical Educators of Vermont is heading back to Killington Grand Resort Hotel on March 26 and 27. Whether you are attending, presenting, or just in the area, here is what to expect and how to make the most of your trip.

What Is the SHAPE Vermont Conference?

SHAPE Vermont (Society of Health and Physical Educators of Vermont) represents over 300 professional and pre-professional members working in health and physical education across the state. Their annual conference is the biggest gathering of PE and health educators in Vermont, featuring workshops, keynote speakers, grant announcements, new state guidelines, and their annual awards banquet.

The conference draws educators from every corner of Vermont. For many, it is the one event each year where they can connect with peers, learn about new programs, and get re-energized about their work.

Conference Details

  • Dates: Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27, 2026 (all day both days)
  • Venue: Killington Grand Resort Hotel and Conference Center
  • Location: 228 East Mountain Road, Killington, VT 05751
  • Format: In-person with workshops, presentations, and awards banquet
  • Registration: Visit shapevt.org for registration details and schedule

The Killington Grand is one of Vermont's premier conference venues. Sitting at the base of Killington Resort, it offers over 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, on-site dining, a full spa, fitness center, and indoor/outdoor pool. It is also right at the foot of the ski slopes, so if you are coming in late March, you can still get some turns in. Killington typically stays open into late April or even May.

Why Conferences Work at Killington

Killington Grand is not just hosting SHAPE VT. The venue runs conferences year-round, from education to early childhood development (VTAEYC holds their annual conference there every October). There is a reason organizations keep coming back.

For Organizers

  • • 30,000+ sq ft of flexible meeting space
  • • Dedicated conference planning team
  • • On-site catering and AV equipment
  • • Group lodging rates for attendees
  • • Complimentary shuttle to lifts

For Attendees

  • • Walk to the ski slopes after sessions
  • • Pool, spa, hot tub, sauna on-site
  • • Green Mountain National Golf Course nearby
  • • Restaurants and shops along Killington Road
  • • Rutland (full services) just 12 miles away

The combination of professional facilities and mountain-town atmosphere makes conferences here feel less like obligations and more like retreats. You can do serious professional development during the day and be on the slopes, in the hot tub, or at a local restaurant by evening.

Extending Your Trip: Work from Killington

Here is an idea: the conference runs Thursday and Friday. Why not come up Wednesday night and stay through the weekend? Late March in Killington means spring skiing, longer days, and the kind of slushy, sunny conditions that make for the best apres-ski of the season.

If you need to get some work done before or after the conference, the Killington Grand lobby is fine for a quick email, but it is not exactly set up for deep focus work. That is where Slope Space comes in.

Slope Space: 5 Minutes from the Grand

Located in Mountain Green Resort on Killington Road, Slope Space is a professional coworking space built for remote workers and visitors who need real workspace infrastructure.

  • VTel gigabit fiber internet — not hotel WiFi, actual dedicated fiber
  • 24/7 access — get in early, stay late, work on your own schedule
  • Day passes available — no commitment, just show up and work
  • Gym, sauna, pool access — included with your desk
  • Community of 200+ remote professionals — the kind of people you actually want to meet

If you are a conference attendee who also works remotely or runs a business, this is the move: attend the SHAPE VT sessions during the day, get your own work done at Slope Space in the mornings or evenings, and ski the rest of the time.

What Else Is Happening in Late March

Late March is one of the best times to be in Killington. The crowds thin out, lift lines are short, and the mountain is still running strong. Here is what else is going on around the time of the conference:

  • Spring skiing — Killington averages 250 inches of snow annually and stays open longer than almost any resort in the East. Late March typically offers packed groomers in the morning and soft bumps in the afternoon
  • SHAPE America National Convention — The national SHAPE convention runs March 17 to 21 in Kansas City, so the Vermont conference on the 26th makes for a packed month for PE and health educators
  • Pond Skim is coming in April (typically at K-1 Lodge), and the Easter Egg Hunt at the resort is April 5. If you are planning a longer stay, those are worth sticking around for

Getting to Killington

  • From Burlington: About 2 hours south on US-4. The most scenic drive in the state.
  • From Boston: About 3 hours via I-89 North to US-4 West.
  • From NYC: About 4.5 hours via I-87 North to US-4 East.
  • Nearest airport: Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport (RUT), 12 miles away. Burlington International (BTV) is the closest major airport.
  • Amtrak: The Ethan Allen Express stops in Rutland with daily service from New York Penn Station.
